Mediation As well as delivering mediation services ranging from family mediation to business to victim-offender mediation, PDCI members carry out policy and research projects. The purpose is to analyse and improve conditions for the practice of mediation. Different modules of mediation training have been developed to increase quality of practice and to raise awareness of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods. PDCI members work towards embedding ADR within the justice system. Environmental disputes PDCI recognises today’s environmental disputes as a reflection of numerous interests and conflicting strategies. They therefore represent important opportunities to promote constructive conflict resolution that can result in communities, businesses, governments and other stakeholders developing more respectful relationships to the environment and to each other in the longer term. Multi-stakeholder foraLatent and active conflicts often stem from real or perceived imbalances of power among interest groups concerning a particular issue. PDCI tries to provide space for communication and negotiation where all parties can have their voices heard on an equal footing. PDCI members play third-party or facilitative roles to guide discussions towards constructive and mutually beneficial solutions. Partners-Kosova Mediation Programme: From Services to Institutional Development to Policy Partners-Kosova implemented a mediation programme with the aim to create a stable and effective mediation system. This system was designed to guide the functioning of mechanisms that deal with settling different kinds of disputes. It worked to increase knowledge about Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) among court staff and municipal mediation structures; to raise awareness of different methodologies for solving conflicts; and to create a mediation referral system in the courts. The programme also served to create a professional association: the Association of Mediators in Kosova. This Association assists the municipal mediation structures (Mediation Committees and Committees of Communities as well as others dealing with dispute resolution) in regulating, monitoring and in licensing mediation practitioners.
